Ebert Benoit

Grand Coteau -Family Gathering of Remembrance for Mr. Ebert Benoit, known to many as "Cop" will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau.
Cop was a native of Crowley, a longtime resident of Opelousas, and was currently living in Sunset. He passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 83.
He enjoyed being outdoors camping at Lil Chenier, traveling, hunting and fishing, and doing carpentry projects. He loved spending time with family and friends talking and visiting and he never met a stranger. He was a Supervisor in the Construction industry for many years. He was the owner of South Street Salvage in Opelousas. He also had a company that would dismantle school bleachers. He was a member of the Atchafalaya Levee Board for 8 years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Rose Ann Martin Benoit of Sunset; two daughters, Denise Davis and husband, Don of Lafayette; and Lisa Boudreaux of Lawtell; five brothers, Bufford Benoit of Crowley; Luther "Mac" Benoit of Crowley; Holland Sarver of Richie; Charles Sarver of Oberlin; and Woodrow Sarver of Crowley; one sister, Jeanette Dennis of Metairie; six grandchildren, Brian Boudreaux and wife, Alex; Dustin Boudreaux, Emily Rose Boudreaux, Sarah Boudreaux, Jessica Davis Musson and husband, David Musson, Jr.; and Joey Davis; and one great-grandchild, Beau Boudreaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanville Benoit and Amelia Smith Benoit; two sisters, Joyce Sarver and Marie "Opal" Ashby; son-in-law, Bruce Boudreaux; and sister-in-law, Mabel Benoit.
The family requests that visitation be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Coteau.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Ebert "Cop" Benoit to Hospice of Acadiana.
The family would like to personally thank Dr. Racheed Ghanami, Dr. Michael Cain, Allison Bertrand, and staff; Dr. John Anderson, Dr. Gary Blanchard, Dr. Jeffery Joseph and staff; Oncology nurse, Michael Baudin, and the entire staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially his nurse, Debra Cormier and his aide, Geralyn Cormier.
