Easton Stelly, Sr.

Opelousas- Hebrews 11:13 These men of faith I have mentioned died without ever receiving all that God had promised them; but they saw it all awaiting them on ahead and were glad, for they agreed that this Earth was not their real home but that they were just strangers visiting down here.

Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 6:20 p.m.; Pat, Chris, Mac and Bonnie said goodbye to their beloved father, Easton Stelly. Easton Joseph Stelly, Sr. was born March 30, 1921 in LeBeau, La. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Baton Rouge local #1098 all of his adult life until his retirement in 1983. Easton was a part of "America's Greatest Generation." He served in the European Theater with the 701 st. Tank Destroyer Battalion with the rank of Sergeant.

Survivors include: his daughters Patricia Ann Sebastien (Paul), Dawn Christine Prudhomme (Dale), Bonnie Kay Hamilton, his son Easton Joseph Stelly, Jr. (Pearl); ten grandchildren; Krista Michelle Boagni, Andrea Katherine Roberts, Holly Ann Mitchell, James Eric Prudhomme, Nicholas Dale Prudhomme, Rebekah Dawn Prudhomme, Easton Joesph Stelly III (Joey), Monica Jeanette Sebastien, Benjamin Scott Stelly, and Michael Paul Rougeau. He also leaves behind 16 great grandchildren.

Easton was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, AnnaBelle Quebedeaux Stelly, his parents John Stelly and Alice Marks Stelly, two brothers Dolphie Stelly and Robert Lee Soileau, and five sisters, Ida Soileau, Beaulah Soileau, Evelyn Fusilier, Mary Siegel Stelly, and Lou Alice Hebert.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Eric Prudhomme, Nick Prudhomme, Joey Stelly, Ben Stelly and Mike Rougeau, his son Mac Stelly. Honorary pallbearers will be his son-in-law Dale Prudhomme and best friend Cliff Lavergne.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Visiting hours are Monday, August 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and the Funeral Home will reopen on Tuesday, August 23 at 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct a Rosary Service on Monday Night at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father Austin Leger on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with interment to follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, La. Military services will be held at Bellevue Cemetery for Mr. Easton.

Mr. Easton's family wishes to thank Prompt Succor Nursing Home for their love and support of our father by making his stay a home. We want to express our gratitude to Dr. Mike Burnel and Dr. Richard Harmon and their staff and the wonderful staff of La. Hospice and Palliative Care.
