Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Earleen Faul Carriere, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Ms. Carriere passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home at the age of 81.
Earleen was a long-time resident of Opelousas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker and baby sitter. She truly enjoyed taking care of her children and many others as her own. She loved the many visits from family and friends and was never too busy to stop whatever she was doing to sit and visit.
She is survived by her eight children, Verna Dunbar (Chris), Susie Dugar (Martin), Pearl Stelly (Easton), Jackie Savoy (Jimmy), Lorraine Bonin (Jason), Tony John Carriere (friend Eva), Melissa Benoit (Kevin) Blaine Murphy Carriere (Stacy), brothers, Warren Faul, Elton Faul, Jr., and Bruce Faul, Terry Faul and Arion Faul, sisters, Diana Thibodeaux and Beverly Fontenot. She has 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Murphy Carriere, her parents, Elton Faul, Sr. and Mable Richard Faul, grandson Brad J. Carlin and granddaughter, Emily Dawn Savoy.
Pallbearers will be grandson, Easton Stelly III, Ben Stelly, Stephen Dunbar, Brian Savoy, Jeremiah and Samuel Carriere Michael Carlin and Casey Benoit.
The family requests visitation be held from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, and will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed by at 6:30 p.m.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home and Hospice for their wonderful medical care. We would also like to extend special thanks to Lacey Leger and Lillie Thomas for the wonderful care given to our mom especially for the past few weeks.
