Earl Guedry, Jr.

Opelousas-Earl V. Guedry, Jr., prominent Opelousas Artist passed away on April, 20, 2015, after a year long bout with cancer. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015, in St. Landry Cemetery. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate the service.

Earl was born in Opelousas and attended AIC Catholic School, graduating in the class of 1960. He then attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he received degrees in commercial arts and fine arts. Earl was a member of the Rotary Club of Opelousas and on the board of the Opelousas Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Thomas Guedry; and parents, Earl Guedry, Sr. and Katherine Wills Guedry.

He is survived by his brother, Patrick Guedry and his wife, Mary Lynn Guedry of Bowie, TX; nephews: Timothy Guedry of Dallas, TX; Benjamin Guedry of Chicago, IL; Andrew Guedry of Olde Lyme, CT; and Markus Thomas of Germany.
