Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, at St. Landry Catholic Church, for Mr. Dwayne Tate. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Jim Brady will celebrate the Mass.
Dwayne was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas, LA. He passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home surround by his love ones. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle.
Dwayne was a graduate of Opelousas Catholic School and a lifelong resident of Opelousas. He was raised in a family of 14 children. Dwayne was know for his strong work ethic as an AC Technician and also a great handy man, helping with home projects in his large family. He had a great love for fishing, and enjoyed spending time with his jeep.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mrs. Virginia Decou Tate of Opelousas, his son Adam Casey Tate and his daughter, Amanda Lynn Tate. He is also survived by his brothers, Roger Dale Tate Mona of French Settlement, Kurt Tate of Opelousas, Danny Tate Gay Anne of Prairieville and Ron Tate of Florida. His surviving sisters include Diana Tate of Colorado, Joyce Tate Granger and Karen Tate Stelly both of Opelousas, and Debbie Tate Masse John of Church Point. Surviving sister inlaw include: Willie Mae Tate and Marilyn Tate. Dwayne is also survived by a very large family of adoring nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ruby Trahan Tate, his siblings, Jeff Tate, Jimmy Tate, Glen Tate, Bruce Tate, Patti Tate Blanchard and his nephew, Paul Wesley Stelly.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 3 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be prayed by Deacon Sammy Diesi, at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
The family would also like to extend a thank you to Hospice of Acadiana, Opelousas General Hospital, and Lafayette General Hospital for the wonderful care provided in their time of need.
