Duke Christopher Barnett, Sr.

Opelousas-A memorial service will be held for Duke Barnett, Sr. on January 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas with Fr. Mark Ledoux officiating. A visitation will be held on January 16, 2025, in the Sibille Funeral Home from 10:00 am till time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Duke Christopher Barnett, Sr., a loving man who made his mark on the hearts of those who knew him, passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on November 30, 1957, in Opelousas.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Jill Hanks Barnett, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. Duke was a proud father to his son, Duke Christopher Barnett, II., and daughter, Elizabeth Marie Barnett, both of Opelousas, who carry on the values and love he instilled in them. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Elissa Barnett and Aliyah Barnett, who were undoubtedly his proudest accomplishments.

Duke was also a brother to Barry Barnett of Lake Charles and Jesse Barnett, III, of Port Barre. 

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jessie and Norma Barnett, Jr., along with his brother, Brett Barnett.

As a loving person, Duke Christopher Barnett, Sr. touched the lives of many.  Will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
