Opelousas Graveside services for Dr. James F. Smith, known to many as Jim, age 58, will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Landry Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Fr. James Brady will officiate the services.

Dr. Smith was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Opelousas. He died on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System. He was an Asst. English Professor at ULL.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Stubbs Smith of Opelousas one sister, Patricia Roberts of Silver Spring, MD one brother, Stan Smith and wife, Suzie Smith of Lafayette, LA two sisters: Elaine Collier and husband, Mike Collier of Houston, TX and Doris Whalen and husband, Don Whalen of League City, TX motherinlaw, Vera Stubbs of Opelousas, LA and brotherinlaw, Walter Stubbs of Opelousas, LA.

Preceded in death by his parents, Stanford A. Smith, Sr. and Thelma Birckel Smith.
