Opelousas Funeral service for Wilfred Joseph Briley, MD will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate the service.
Dr. Briley was a resident of Opelousas. He died on Monday, September 8, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System, at the age of 94. He was lifetime resident of Opelousas were he practiced medicine for 61 years until the age of 89. He also served as a doctor in the U.S. Army where he met and married his late wife Arleen. He was a beloved and respected doctor in this community and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Karyn Briley Champagne and her husband, Bob, and Kim Briley Davis and her husband, Brad grandchildren, Jarrod Champagne and wife, Jennifer, Scott Champagne and wife, Rebecca, and Amy Davis Poolson and her husband, Danny great grandchildren, Kristian, Colin, Charlotte, and Olivia. He also survived by his brothers, J.D., Louis, Nolin and Hubert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arleen Latzko Briley, and his parents, Joseph Douglas and Amelia Briley.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2014, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
Donations may be made in his name to American Heart Association.
