Opelousas Funeral services for Doyle Ray Hill, age 83 will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services and music will be provided by Randy Curtis and Karen Chambliss.
Doyle was a native of Queen City, TX, and was a long time resident of Opelousas. He recently had moved to Sulphur, LA, to be close to his son. He passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 27, 2014, at his residence.
Doyle worked for Texas Eastern Gas for 37 years as an operator, upon his retirement he spent time with family and friends and doing the work of the Lord. Doyle served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 19 and a former Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Opelousas. He used his gift of service to help family, friends, Church and the community. Doyle will long be loved and remembered by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, James Jim Hill and wife Dawn of Sulphur daughter, Jan Ruth Koenig and husband Byron of Richmond, KY six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Redmon Hill parents, Charlie and Plennie Draper Hill brothers, Bill Hill, Clyde Hill, Charles Hill and sisters, Vaudine Julian and Bonnie Rice.
Pallbearers will be Chris Hill, Bud Koenig, Joshua Koenig, David Koenig, Dirk Andrepont, and Larry Sandoz.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
