Dovic LeJeune, Sr.
Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Dovic LeJeune, Sr. , age 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the LeJeune Cemetery in Mallet, LA.
Father Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Dovic was a native of Mallet, LA, and was current resident of Church Point. He died on Thursday, December 11, 2008, in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country from 1941-1945 during WWII. He was also a cattle farmer for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Eliza Dukes LeJeune of Opelousas; one son, Dovic LeJeune, Jr. of Opelousas; two daughters: Odelia LeJeune of Slidell; and Annette Fitzgerald and husband, Gary of Melville; one brother, Curley LeJeune of Opelousas; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clopha and Edola Daville LeJeune; son, Onezeme LeJeune; daughter, Debra Aucoin; step-son, Wilfred LeJeune; seven brothers and one sister.
Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, December 14, 2008, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
