Douglas Michael Wallett

Douglas Michael Wallett, born April 20, 1949, died July 23, 2024 at age 75 years old. He Is preceded in death by his son, Brett Wallett, his sister Jane Wallett Dean, his little brother, Stephen Wallett,  and his brother n law, Tim Boyd, his sisters-in-laws, Mary Mardine Ortego, and Paula Ortego.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Lynn Ortego Wallett, his step son, Paul Fink, his sister, Beth Wallett Boyd, his brother, Troyce DuCorbier, brothers-in-law, Michael Ortego (Myra), Brad Ortego (Sharon), Neil Ortego (Cathy) , step son Paul Fink & step grandchildren, Alex, Amy, & Andrew Fink.

 Michael graduated from Opelousas High School in 1967. Mike began working at City of Opelousas Power Plant, then he worked as a salesman at Ortego Oil and Supply Co, and finally worked at Bordelon Ford as “Honest Mike” the Salesman. Michael was a member of the America Racing Pigeon Union, Inc, and Lafayette Pigeon Racing Club. He enjoyed breeding and raising pigeons for 40 years. Michael enjoyed horse racing also and was very involved in purchasing horses for his customers and friends. He also loved handicapping horse races. Micheal was very knowledgeable in picking great horses! Michael has donated his body to the Anatomical Research Center in New Orleans.
