Opelousas-Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Dupre Quebedeaux, age 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Father Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the service followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Quebedeaux was a resident of Opelousas, La. She passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2008, at her residence. She worked as a nurse for 30 years having worked for the old St. Landry Clinic, Opelousas General Hospital and as a private duty nurse. She went back to school when she was 30 years old and graduated at the top of her class at T.H. Harris School of Nursing. She loved her work, helping people in need and giving her time to her patients. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. All who knew her will miss her greatly.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Allen Quebedeaux of Opelousas, LA; two daughters: Mrs. Brenda Ryder and her husband, Gordon, of Opelousas, LA; Mrs. Debbie Soileau and her husband, Felton, of Sunset, LA; her son, Bobby Quebedeaux of New Orleans, LA; five grand-children: Gerrit Ryder; Bart Ryder; Katherine Fontenot; Dottie Domingue and Brent Ryder. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Brooks Fontenot; Rileigh Fontenot and Eli Domingue.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Lee Dupre and Lydia Fontenot and two sisters, Marjorie Fontenot and Alice Blanchard.
Pallbearers will be Gary Blanchard; Gordon Ryder; Brent Ryder; Bart Ryder; Gerrit Ryder and Felton Soileau.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will re-open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008, until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Gloria Brooks and Shirley Kennerson who were devoted to her with much care and devotion. Special thanks also goes out to her nephew, Dr. Gary Blanchard, who saw to her every medical need no matter what time day or night she needed help. He will be remembered by her family as a man who loved and cared for his Aunt Dorothy.
