Washington A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA, for Mrs. Dorothy Credeur Hargroder, known to many as Dot. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. Rev. Father Albert Nunez will celebrate the Mass.
Dorothy was a longtime resident of Washington. She passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at her home at the age of 76. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed being outdoors in her yard, gardening, traveling, and taking cruises with her family. Spending time with her friends and family was her joy in life. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include three sons, Chris Hargroder and wife, Charlotte of Washington Todd Hargroder and wife, Kristen of Washington and Chad Hargroder and wife, Pasty of Opelousas one daughter, Christine Hurst and husband, Kenneth of Opelousas three brothers, Clifford Credeur of New York Ballard Credeur of Opelousas and Litell Credeur of Opelousas one sister, Vida Mae Canezaro of Maringouin 12 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Hargroder her parents, Clair Val Credeur and Nedia Bordes Credeur and one sister, Adley Guillory.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Hargroder, Christopher Hargroder, Derek Hargroder, Seth Stevens, Remi Wartelle, and Jason Wartelle.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, February 17, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Harriet Fisher and to the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LA Hospice and Palliative Care.
