Dorothy Duplechain Dunbar

Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Duplechain Dunbar, age 81, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy was a life-long resident of Port Barre and died at her home on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. She was a homemaker and loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that always brought a smile to her face and brightened her day. She was a devoted wife of 59 years and a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by all she knew and loved.

Survivors include two sons: Johnny J. Punkin Dunbar, Jr. and wife, Renee of Port Barre; and Gerald Jerry Dunbar of Highlands Ranch, CO; one brother, Jesse Duplechain and wife, Barbara of Port Barre; one brother-in-law, Donald Bootsey Dunbar and wife, Mary Alice of Delcambre; three grandchildren: Randy Dunbar and wife, Crystal of Port Barre; Jamie Moran and husband, Craig of Krotz Springs; and Chad Dunbar of Port Barre; and two great-grandchildren: Allie Moran of Krotz Springs and Sadie Dunbar of Port Barre.

Mrs. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny James Dunbar, Sr.; three brothers: Earl Duplechain, George Duplechain, Jr., and J. C. Edward Duplechain; her parents: George and Eula Bryant Duplechain;

Visiting hours will be observed from 2 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2009 in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Saturday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
