Dorothy Cabe-Maury

Opelousas Following cremation, a Memorial Service for Dorothy CabeMaury, age 81, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Episcopal Church of the Ascension located at1030 Johnson Street in Lafayette. Father Duane Petersen, Associate Rector at Ascension Church, and Father Pete Smith, Rector at Epiphany Church, in Opelousas will conduct the Service.
Dorothy was born April 28, 1932 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at her residence. She was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Lafayette and frequently attended the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Opelousas. Dorothy was active as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Olive Branch, and served as President of the Lafayette chapter of United Christian Outreach until her death.
She was a paralegal since 1959 with the exception of the five years she was the VicePresident of Planters Bank Trust Company in Opelousas she formerly served as President of the Legal Secretary Association in Lafayette.
Dorothy enjoyed traveling the world, including the six medical mission trips to Honduras, and was fluent in four languages.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa CabeMaury Beasley and her husband, Hunter her son, Gilly J. CabeMaury all of Lafayette sister, Barbara Grauer of Waukesha, Wisconsin five grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Jacob Beasley, Christopher, Nicholas CabeMaury, and one great grandchild, Sebastain CabeMaury.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Margaret Bollom Behling daughter, Leslie Ann CabeMaury, and brother, Jim Behling.
Visiting hours will be observed at Episcopal Ascension Church from 2:30 p.m. until time of service with a reception to follow.
Dorothy requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made directly to United Christian Outreach or the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras in care of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.
