Dorothy LaCombe Buford

Port Barre-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre for Mrs. Dorothy Lacombe Buford, known to many as "Mrs. Dot." Rev. Msgr. Curt Mallet and Rev. Fr. Daniel Picard will concelebrate the Mass. Kimberly Duplechain and Heather Barron Fontenot will be the gift bearers. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Port Barre.
Dot was a native and a longtime resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 66. She was a homemaker, a wonderful wife and a loving mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed visiting the casino and spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Gerald P. Buford of Port Barre; one son, Tyran J. Buford of Port Barre; two daughters, Denise Deranger and husband, Kevin of Leonville; and Kristy Montgomery and husband, Chris of Opelousas; two brothers, JY Lacombe of Port Barre; and Jim Lacombe of Port Barre; and two sisters, Jessie Lacombe Doucet of Washington; and Charlene Lacombe Fontenot of Grand Prairie. She also has a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by parents, Imay Lacombe and Pearl Barron Lacombe; sisters, Mary Louise Lacombe and Wordna Viator; and brother, Frank Lacombe.
Pallbearers will be Chris Montgomery, Harold Doucet, Norcisse Doucet, Jr., Fabien Leger, Michael Campbell, and Chris Meche. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyran Buford, Kevin Deranger, Glen Barron, Dayton Duplechain, and Gidedon Duplechain.
The visitation will begin on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home. On Saturday, visitation will continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
