Dorothy Hill Beaugh
Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Hill Beaugh, age 84, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas. Father Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Beaugh was born in Urania, LA, and was a resident of Opelousas all of her adult life. She passed from life on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Maison Deville Nursing Home.
Mrs. Beaugh was a graduate of TroutGood Pine High School and Moler System of Colleges in New Orleans where she received her Cosmetology Degree. She was a homemaker and a mother of five children. She was a member of the American Legion Post 45 Ladies' Auxiliary and was a long time member of the VFW Post No. 2483 Ladies' Auxiliary where she served as the Voice of Democracy Chairman for several years. She enjoyed visiting the Veterans in Alexandria, Jackson, and local nursing homes. She would visit with the patients, serve refreshments, and hand out holiday gifts all year. These are special memories that she always cherished. She always looked forward to watching the Olympics. Her favorite events of the summer sports were swimming,
ing, track and field, and gymnastics and during the winter sports were ice hockey, downhill ski jumping, and ice skating. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful wife, and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda Beaugh Way and companion, Conrad Richard of Opelousas; Eddie Bim Beaugh, Jr. and companion, Cheryl Tweedel of Opelousas; Carolyn Beaugh Thibodeaux and husband, Patrick of Orange, TX; William Beaugh and wife, Lee Ann of Ft. Worth, TX; and Sara Beaugh Comeaux and husband, Kerry of Opelousas; sisters: Sue Bauer and Sarah Hill, both of Slidell; and Priscilla Irwin and husband, J. C. of Maryville, TN; and sister-in-law, Henrietta Beaugh Kemp and husband, Levi of Marble Falls, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lisa Hanks and husband, Chad of Opelousas; Sondra Westmoreland and husband, Neal of Orange, TX; Jardin Thibodeaux and wife, Carly of Bridge City, TX; Alexander Beaugh of Ft. Worth, TX; and Ross Wager of Opelousas; one great-grandchild, Bailey Hanks of Opelousas; host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and a new spiritual daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward Beaugh, Sr.; her parents: Henry and Gladys Breakfield Hill; and infant sister, Ruby Marie Hill; and her best friend, Marie Castille.
Pallbearers will be her sons: Eddie Bim Beaugh, Jr., and William Beaugh; brother-in-law, J. C. Irwin; nephews: Jude Vautrot and Francis Vautrot; and special family friends, Randy Welch and Larry Moreau. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ross Wager and Jardin Thibodeaux and Alexander Beaugh; and great-grandson, Bailey Hanks.
Mrs. Dorothy's family would like to express a great thank you to Dr. Gary Blanchard and staff, Southern Care Hospice, Maison Deville Nursing Home Staff and Opelousas General Health System staff for the wonderful care given to her and her family during her time of need.
Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
