Melville- A Funeral Service will be held for Dora Mae Boudreaux Satterley on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Pentecostal Church of Melville. Pastor Devon England will officiate the service and Rev. Bob Fruen will share the obituary. Rite of Committal will follow at Satterley Family Cemetery in Melville.
Dora Mae Satterley, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023, at her residence in Melville. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Dora Mae was born on September 18, 1936, in Palmetto.
Throughout her life, Dora Mae embraced various hobbies and interests that brought joy to those around her. She had a knack for crocheting afghans and doilies, creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. Additionally, she was a talented seamstress who tirelessly sewed clothes for anyone in need. Her culinary skills were renowned among her loved ones, as she delighted in creating delicious meals for family gatherings and taste testing them with great enthusiasm. In quieter moments, Dora Mae found solace in reading and working on word search puzzles.
Dora Mae's proudest accomplishment was the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Known as the best mama, maw, aunt, and friend in the world, she poured boundless love into every relationship she cultivated. Her caring nature extended beyond immediate family members to all who knew her. She had an indescribable ability to make everyone feel cherished and valued.
Dora Mae's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Richard Lester Satterley; two grandsons, Randy Lee Satterley and Terrell Lester Satterley; her parents, Arthur Boudreaux and Ivy Schexsnayder Boudreaux; as well as an infant sister named Gwendolyn and infant brother named Timothy Boudreaux. She also rejoins in heaven her brothers Samuel Boudreaux, Orain Boudreaux, Lester Boudreaux, John David Boudreaux, brother-in-law John Larry Sicard, and dear friend Nettie Mae Naquin.
Dora Mae will be forever cherished in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her loving son Dennis Satterley (April) of Melville; daughters Genell Ragsdale (Russell) of Winnsboro, LA, Pamela Page (late husband James) of Downsville, LA, and Karen Satterley of Melville. She leaves behind a legacy of love that spans generations with 10 grandchildren: Derek Page, Heath Page (Toni), Rusty Ragsdale (Jamie), Amy Ragsdale Davis (Josh), Violet Ragsdale Temple (Bob), Tori Ragsdale, Jason Satterley (Laurie), and Jed Satterley (Rebekah). Her ten great-grandchildren include Lauren Satterley, Jon Satterley, Travis Ragsdale, Gavin Davis, Morgan Ragsdale, Dylan Davis, Alyvia Temple, Matthew Page, Melody Page, and Maggie Page. Dora Mae also had the joy of knowing her two great-great-grandchildren Walker Satterley and Lydia O’Conner.
In addition to her immediate family members, Dora Mae is survived by her siblings Arthur Boudreaux Jr., Silton Boudreaux, Ursin Boudreaux, Moses Boudreaux, and Elsie Boudreaux Sicard. Her extended family includes countless friends whom she considered a chosen family. Dora Mae also held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Aunt Dora." Her church family provided unwavering support throughout her life journey.
Visitation for Dora Mae Satterley will take place on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in the First Pentecostal Church of Melville. Visitation will resume on Monday starting 8:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM.
Pallbearers will be Jason Satterley, Jed Satterley, Rusty Ragsdale, Ritchie Sicard, Bob Temple and Jon Satterley.
Dora Mae Satterley's departure leaves us with cherished memories and an enduring legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness. As we celebrate her life, let us remember her with smiles and gratitude for the joy she brought into our lives. May her kind soul rest in eternal peace.
The family deeply appreciates the endless hours of care and dedication given by Karen Satterley in caregiving for her mother in the past several years. The family would like to offer a special thanks to her granddaughters, Tori, Violet and Rebekah for their nursing and care for the last few weeks of her life and to all the caregivers that loved and cared for her. A grateful thanks to Mrs. Donnie, Dr. Murphy and the staff at LA Hospice and Palliative Care.
