Dora Manuel

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dora Nell "Loly" Hargroder Manuel at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Monsignor Russell Harrington will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Landry Cemetery.

Mrs. Manuel, age 93, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Manuel and wife, Kathleen of Opelousas and Patrick Keith Manuel of Opelousas; 3 grandchildren, Dawn Lynn Manuel Lafleur, Daniel Amos Manuel and Katie Denise Manuel; 5 great-grandchildren, Lauren Paige Lafleur, Ashley Danielle Lafleur, Macie Lynn Lafleur, Peyton Wallace Manuel and Kullen Paul LaHaye; and her 2 great-great-grandchildren, Taylin Brooke Guidroz and Jace Owen Guidroz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Manuel; parents, Joseph Elby Hargroder and Aurelia Dupre Hargroder; brothers, Malcolm Hargroder, Sr. and Gerald Hargroder; and her sisters, Geraldine Hargroder, Elsie Mae Hargroder Quebedeaux, Bonnie Hargroder Jaqneaux and Mary Juanita "Tutsy".

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary Service will be prayed by Deacon Bill Pollingue at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Stacey Mayeaux and his staff, Ms. Mary Morein and her Immaculate Heart of Mary Group, and her caregivers, Marie Peterson, Darlene Johnson, Verda Pinkney, Alonda Manuel, Janice Lemon and Donna Reed.
