Grand Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Donald J. Sibille, age 90 at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016, at St. Charles Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at St. Charles Church Cemetery. Music will be provided by Jodi Bollich.
Donald was a resident of Sunset. He passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at his home in Sunset. Donald served his Nation in the U.S. Navy. He was involved in the sweet potato packing industry, electrical and wood working businesses. Donald served the parish of St. Landry as a Police Juryman for 23 years where he served as President of the jury. During this time he was instrumental in the building of the St. Landry Parish Jail, the St. Landry Health Unit and other numerous building projects which included the St. Landry Waste Disposal District. He was active in many Church and Civic organizations which include The Knights of Columbus, American Legion, YMBC and was a volunteer Fireman of Sunset. Donald's greatest joy was when he was with his family and friends cooking, eating and telling the wonderful stories about life. Donald is going to be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Doris C. Sibille of Sunset; daughter, Donna Healy and husband Don of Lafayette; brother, Jerry Sibille and wife Pat of Lafayette; sister, Norma Ducote of Lafayette; grandchildren, Deborah Healy Alleman of Breaux Bridge, David Healy and wife Stacy of Carencro, Jill Healy Morrison of Lafayette; great grandchildren, Tyler Healy, Meagan Morrison, Ashton Healy and Landon Hebert.
Donald was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Sibille; parents, John and Marie Barry Sibille; brothers, Woody Sibille, James Sibille; sisters, Frances Smith, Eveyln Erny; half brothers, Harold Sibille , John B. Sibille.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Prejean, Patrick Sibille, Ricky Arceneaux, Krieg Sibille, David Healy and James Miceli.
The visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016, and will reopen on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
The family of Mr. Donald would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice and his caregivers Becky, Bianca, Deanna, Stephanie and Tiffany.
