Donald Pefferkorn

OpelousasFuneral services for Donald Don Pefferkorn will be at held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 12, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Msgr. Keith DeRouen and Fr. Gary Schexnayder will concelebrate the Mass. The U. S. Navy with the ReedDavis Honor Guard will conduct a Military service at the Cemetery.

Don, a loving husband and father, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012, with family by his side at age 81 . Don will be dearly remembered. May Don rest peacefully with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Don was born on August 16, 1930, to Elmo and Allie Pefferkorn in Opelousas, LA. Don enlisted in the US Navy upon graduating from Opelousas High School. It was during his tour in Hawaii that he met and wed Evelyn. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after a 22 year career having achieved the rank of 1st Lt. Don returned home to Opelousas to raise his family and a second career as the Director of Civil Services for the City of Opelousas.
Don was an active family man, enjoying camping and fishing with his children. He sacrificed time and travel for his childrens activities and sports. Don wanted all the best for his family. Don always appreciated his cars, and enjoyed keeping his lawn and a perpetual vegetable garden.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn and 4 children, their spouses, and 11 grandchildren: David Pefferkorn and wife, Carole and their children, Megan, Alyssa and Hallie Pefferkorn, all of Carencro John Dale Pefferkorn, and wife, Linda and their children, Rachel, Laura and Donnie Pefferkorn, all of Keller, TX Dan Pefferkorn and wife, Kathy and their children, Lance and Grant Pefferkorn, all of Tampa, FL Ellen Adams and husband, Rusty and their children, Renee, Tiffany and Amanda Adams, all of Asheboro, NC. He is also survived by his brother, Dale Pefferkorn and wife, Bea of Opelousas.

Don was preceded in death by two children, Lisa Pefferkorn and Donald Pefferkorn, Jr.
his sisters, Lallie, Bernice, Fannie, and Ruby and one brother, Albert.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday visitation will continue from 8:00 am until 1:30 p.m.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday night in the funeral home.
