PORT BARRE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mr. Donald Lee Guidroz, on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church in Port Barre. Reverend Jefferson DeBlanc, Jr. will celebrate the Mass. Entombment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Mr. Guidroz, age 73, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 12:57 p.m. at Opelousas General Hospital Systems surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Guidroz served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 278. Mr. Guidroz enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Versie Guidroz of Port Barre; son, Christopher Guidroz (Candice) of Port Barre; daughter, Tonya Guidroz Guidry (Chad) of Port Barre; brother, James Guidroz of Port Barre; sisters, Betty Cox of Liberty, MS, and Claudia Sue Powers of Metarie, LA; and 3 grandchildren, Madison, Bailey and Hayden Guidroz of Port Barre.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Eula Mae Guidroz; and brother, Roy Guidroz.
The family requests visitation be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Guidroz, Chad Guidry, Matthew Guidroz, Logan Longmire, Craig Stelly, and Blaine Degueyter. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Guidroz, Shane Degueyter and Bailey Guidroz.
