Donald Ray T-Ray Fontenot, Sr.

Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Donald Ray Fontenot, Sr., who was known to many as T-Ray will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Military services will be conducted at the graveside by the V.F. W. Post of Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Fr. Nicky Trahan will officiate the Mass.

Mr. Fontenot was a native of Pecaniere, and was a long-time resident of Port Barre. He died on Monday, January 26, 2009, in the University Medical Center in Lafayette at the age of 62.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and Army. He was a graduate of USL with a degree in education. Also, he was a police officer with the Port Barre Police Department for 32 years. He loved to spend time with his family especially the children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking at the camp with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Stoute Fontenot of Port Barre; one son, Donnie Fontenot, Jr. and fianc, Casey of Port Barre; stepson, Tony Duplechain and wife, Dana of Port Barre; daughter, Becky Landry and husband, Ronnie of Brusly; three brothers: Johnny Fontenot and wife, Tammy of Port Barre; Ricky Fontenot and wife, Melissa of Pecaniere; Michael Fontenot of Port Barre; five sisters: Janelle Babin and husband, Ronald of Houma; Cheryl Bonfanti and husband, John of Baton Rouge; Enola Stoute and husband, Bob of Port Barre; Janice Bergeron and husband, Roderick Boo of Pecaniere; and Cindy Graham and husband, Mike of Baton Rouge; and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Rae L. Fontenot; his parents: Rayson Son and Hilda Teda Fontenot; niece, Desiree Hidalgo; and one great nephew, Chandler Luke.
