Dolores Bertrand
Palmetto Funeral services for Mrs. Dolores Chenevert Bertrand, age 75, will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in the First United Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge. Interment will follow in the First United Pentecost Cemetery.
Rev. Shuff will officiate the services.
Mrs. Dolores was a native of Livonia and a longtime resident of Palmetto for 51 years. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2008, in the Tri-Community Nursing Home in Palmetto. Mrs. Dolores was a retired cafeteria worker with the St. Landry Parish School Board. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include: one son, Dempsey Bertrand and wife, Annette of Palmetto; three daughters: Rebekah Lazarus and husband, Lester of Shreveport; Sheila Driskill and husband, Everett Driskill, Jr. of Slidell; and Donna Moses and husband, Hank of Angleton, TX; two brothers: Robert Chenevert and wife, Becky of Port Barre; and Douglas Chenevert and wife, Betty of Port Barre; and one sister, Theresa Chenevert of Livonia; 6 grandchildren: Kelly Talley and husband, Brett; Brennan Driskill; Chris Leonard, Rachel Leonard, Jeremy Simoneaux, and Stefanie Simoneaux; and 3 great-grandchildren: Peyton Talley, Jakob Simoneaux, and Jeremiah Simoneaux. She also had a host of nieces and nephews and a heavenly host of brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Bertrand, her parents: John Dempsey Chenevert and Agnes Gueho Chenevert; and two brothers.
Visiting hours will be observed on Saturday, September 20, 2008, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the First United Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge. On Sunday, visitation will continue in the church from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff of Doctors and nurses at Opelousas General Health System, Lafayette General Medical Center, Tri-Community Nursing Center, and Journey Hospice. Thanks also to Judi Dupre, Mendy Mitchell, Janette Miller, Gerald and Kathy Leger, and a loving daughter-in-law, Annette Bertrand for all that they have done.
