Devin John Fontenot

Opelousas, A funeral service will be held for Devin John Fontenot on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be followed in the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Devin, born on April 26, 2001, in Opelousas, Louisiana, left this world on February 1, 2025. From a young age, Devin embodied a spirit of warmth and openness; he was outgoing and never met a stranger. He had an innate ability to connect with those around him and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His love for his family was profound, particularly for his nephews and nieces, who were a source of joy and pride in his life.

Devin is survived by his devoted mother, Kimberly Fontenot of Leonville, and his loving brother, Seth Fontenot, who shares his life with Kaylee in Huntsville. His family also includes his sisters, Amanda Manuel (Ryan), of Eunice, and Melinda Fontenot of Basile, as well as a cherished circle of nine nephews and nieces who will carry on his legacy of kindness.

He is deeply missed by his grandfathers, Henry Woodson of Leonville and Richard Fontenot of Opelousas, along with his godparents, James and Dawn Colligan of Refugio, Texas, and Tracy Fontenot of Opelousas. Devin was preceded in death by his father, John Fontenot, and his grandmothers, Elouise Woodson and Patsy Fontenot.

Though his time was much too short, Devin’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, and he will forever be remembered for his generous heart and unwavering love for those around him.

Pallbearers will be Seth Fontenot, Ronnie Carrol, Sr., Eric Thomas, Christopher Smith, Justin Wells, and Travis Lavergne.
