OpelousasFuneral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. Denny Ray Guidroz.
Denny was a native of Opelousas and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. After his retirement, he moved back to Opelousas where he resided until he passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 67. He was a partner in the Bodman, Nolan, Webb, and Guidroz Architecture Firm. He retired after working for 40 years. He was President of the AIA for the State of Louisiana, Chairman of the AIA Documents Committee for the U.S. for three consecutive terms, and served on the U. S. Architecture Board in Washington, D. C. He was also the previous owner of the High Point Christmas Tree Farm for over 15 years in Beauregard Parish.
He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was in the 256th Engineering Brigade National Guard Unit for over 6 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy Lavern Guidroz of Opelousas one grandson, Seth Todd Guidroz of Opelousas and one sister, Susan Guidroz Caffarel of Austin, Texas.
Predeceased by one son, Todd Thomason Guidroz mother of his children, Kay Darlene Thomason Guidroz and his parents, Earl J. Guidroz who was the former Chief of Police and Melanie Meche Guidroz.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
