Delman Barron
Port Barre- Funeral service for Mr. Delman Barron, age 94, will be held on his birthday on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.
Fr. William Curtis Curt Mallet will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Barron was a native of Ville Platte and life-long resident of Port Barre. He died on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. He was a farmer, pipeline worker and retired with the Police Jury. He was a longtime member of the Port Barre Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a special person and will be truly missed by all who's lives he touched.
He is survived by son, Edward Barron and wife, Veronica of Port Barre; two daughters: Jeanette Mallet of Leonville; and Vicky Race and husband, Michael of Port Barre; son-in-law, Francis Bergeron of LaPort, TX; one sister, Bernice Lalonde of Port Barre; 11 grandchildren: John Ed Barron, Veronica Guillory and husband, Nelson; Dean Barron and wife, Kayla; Sarah Doucet and husband, Weston all of Port Barre; Altana Bergeron, Clifford Bergeron, and Clayton Bergeron and wife, Holly all of Texas; Father William Curtis Curt Mallet of Lafayette; Avia Meche and husband, Kenneth; Iris Badeaux and husband, Richard all of Leonville; and Jonathan Pla Race of Carencro. He also has 19 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents: Marshall and Mary Louise Soileau Barron; his wives: Louisiana Lacombe and Martha Neut Dupre; one daughter, Mary Louise Bergeron; daughter-in-law, Loretta Barron; son-in-law, Dudley Mallet; three sisters: Ethel Doucet, Cathleen Lafleur; and Pearl Lacombe; and four brothers: Allen, John, Lennis, and Willis Barron.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Blanchard, Dr. Deblanc, and all the great people at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility, and LA Hospice and Palliative Care for their care and support during his time of need.
P Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services. nbsp
