David Leger
Opelousas- Funeral services for David Leger, age 79, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Fr. Angelo Cremaldi will celebrate the Prayer of Christian burial service.
David was born in and became a life-long resident of Opelousas. He died on Monday, July 20, 2009, at the V.A. Hospital in Alexandria, La. David served the United States during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. After his time in the Service he returned to Opelousas and became a business owner, Dave's Mobile Home Repair until his retirement. David was an avid hunter and fisherman and he also enjoyed gardening. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend and will be sadly missed.
David is survived by his son, Darrell Leger and wife Tammy of Lafayette, Ga.; daughter, Angela Leger of Broussard; brothers, Albert Leger of Lafayette, Erick Leger and wife Elsie of Sunset; sister, Philomene Tauzin of Breaux Bridge; three grandchildren, Haley Gonsoulin, Alyssa Leger and Sierra Leger.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ida Matte Leger; brothers, Bertrand Leger, George Leger, Willie Leger, Jack Leger and Warren Leger.
alignright Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. And will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
