OpelousasFuneral services for Mr. David E. Clarke, Sr. will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services.
David was a native of Cold Springs, Texas, and longtime resident of Opelousas, LA. He passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 85. He was a Surveyor in Oil Exploration for many years. He was a U. S. Army Air Corp Veteran who proudly served his country during WWII. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy Brig. Gen. J. J. Alfred A. Mouton Camp 778 of Opelousas and American Legion Post 0401. He was an avid collector of Civil War memorabilia. As a pastime, he would enjoy fishing with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include two sons: David E. Clarke, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Byram, MS and Dale Dean Clarke and wife, Debbie of Cape Girardeau, MO one sister, Mary Clarke DeShazo of Thousand Oaks, CA two brothersinlaw, J. V. Richard of Port Barre and Lawrence Noel and wife, Jean of Prairie Ronde four grandchildren, one greatgrandchild and a special friend, Lena Woodson of Opelousas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Noel Clarke his parents, Razz Tom Clarke and Mable Williamson Clarke and one brother, Tom Wallace Clarke.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
