Grand Coteau Funeral services for Dave Melancon, age 49, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, with a service in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in St. Charles Church Cemetery.
Father Brian Garry will officate the service.
Dave was a native of Sunset and a long time resident of Basile, LA. He died on Tuesday, May 2, 2011, at Lafayette General, surrounded with his love one.
Dave was an avid Saints Football fan, he loved to go fishing, he was a wonderful brother, and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors include bothers Albert Melancon, IV of Sunset, Joseph Martin Melancon and wife, Robin of Sunset, and Jerard Melancon of Sunset, sisters Priscilla Melancon, Sunset, La., Lorraine Melancon Baton Rouge, and Ellen Lewis and husband, Wilfred, Jr. of Carencro, La., his special friend Jamie Hicks of Sunset, a host of nieces and nephews, and a great nieces, and nephews, one god child Sydni Melancon of Sunset.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Zoe and Roberta Malbrough Melancon, one brother Allen Charles Melancon.

The family requests that visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Saturday, May 7, 2011, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
