Daniel Popps, Sr.
Melville Funeral services for Daniel Popps, Sr., age 61, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009, in the First Baptist Church of Melville. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery.
Rev. Buddy Webb will officiate the service.
Daniel was a native and life-long resident of Melville. He died on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Oschner Hospital in New Orleans.
He worked for the U.S. Corp. of Engineers as a surveyor for 27 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Popps of Melville; two sons: Daniel Popps, Jr. and wife, Leslie of Carencro; and Jesse Prudhomme of Melville; one daughter, Monique Stermer and husband, Travis of St. Landry; two sons-in-law: Michael Ackman of Bayou Pigeon; and Mitchell Landry of Port Barre; two brothers: Manuel Popps and wife, Darlene; and Russell Popps and wife, Gloria; two sisters: Janet Comeaux and husband, Wilbert; and Edith Fletcher and husband, Ray; all of Melville; and five grandchildren: Brianna Landry, Brysonn Landry, Riddock Popps, Landon Melancon, and Rylan Melancon.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John M. Popps and Neva Leger Popps; one daughter, Hope Landry; and two grandchildren: Brittany and Candice Landry.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Friday, July 17, 2009, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with an all-night visitation until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
