Daniel Mistric

Opelousas Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church, on Friday, January 7, 2011. He passed away on January 5, 2011, after a brief illness at the age of 74 years old.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Landry Catholic Church. Fr. James Brady celebrated the Mass. Interment followed in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas.
Danny was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas. He attended A.I.C. and graduated from Opelousas High School in 1957 where he was a member of the schools boxing team. He also boxed and was a State Champion of the Golden Gloves Boxing Team in 1957. He served with the Louisiana National Guard. Danny was elected to the St. Landry Parish Police Jury for 3 terms and served as President. He was also a realtor with Century 21 DCGAguillard Realty until his passing.
He enjoyed active memberships in Knight of Columbus, Woodmen of the World, and The Elks. His passion was boxing and coaching his young son and team, Opelousas Boxing Club. He also enjoyed dancing and music and was an original member and guitarist for Dezauches Blue Room Gang.
He is survived by four children: Lynn MistricDiesi of Baton Rouge and friend, Michael McKinney of Opelousas Nancy Mistric and her fianc, Kenneth Landry, Sr. Angela Kay Mistric and friend, Steve Habisreitinger and Daniel Simon Mistric, Jr. and his friend, Liz Breaux all of Opelousas their mother, Margie PitreMistric ten grandchildren: Danielle Simone Mistric, Alexis Stelly, Kenneth Landry, Jr., Wade Lavergne and Coby Lavergne, all of Opelousas Lori HuddlestonFontenot and husband, Nick of Ville Platte Michelle DiesiRagusa and husband, Lucas of Gonzales Leslie DiesiDesselle and husband, Leo Desselle IV and Kelli Lynn Diesi, all of Baton Rouge Rachael Lynn Bourque of Jacksonville, FL and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Anseline Briley and niece, Robin Briley, both of Vidor, TX and beloved friend, Gloria Lanclos of Opelousas and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death his parents, Dieu Dona D.J. and Laurence Robin Mistric.
The family request that the visitation be held on Thursday, from 3 pm to 9 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Friday, visitation continued from 8 am until time of service at 1:30 pm.
A rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the Chapel at Sibille Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Wade Lavergne, Coby Lavergne, Kenneth Landry, Sr., Kenneth Landry, Jr., Nick Fontenot, Lucas Ragusa, Leo Desselle, IV, and Brenton Ragusa.
Honary Pallbearers were Louis Doucet, Sr., Steve Habisreiting, Merlin Muff Carrier, Ronald Briley and Warren Beaugh.
