Curley Lejeune, Sr.
Opelousas -Mass of Christian Burial services for Mr. Curley Lejeune, Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Fth. Ken Dominque will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial services. Ms. Valarie Andrus will be providing the Musical selections and there will be a special Military Service at the Cemetery.
Mr. Curley was a native of Mallet, La and a long time resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015, at his daughter's home in Opelousas at the age of 93. Mr. Curley served our Country in the U.S. Army and then became a heavy equipment operator in the oilfield. Mr. Curley was a big fan of LSU and the Saints and he also loved to fish and work in his garden. Mr. Curley loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, he is going to be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survivors include sons, Curley "Tunnie" Lejeune and wife Sandra of Ville Platte, Mac Lejeune and companion Gerry of Washington; step-sons, George Bourque and wife Elaine of Cut Off, James Prudhomme and wife Mary Ann of Baton Rouge; daughters, Patricia Pattison and husband David of Monticello, Ark., Gertie Collins and husband Shawn of Basile, Barbara Castille of Opelousas, Ruby Carroll of Sunset; sixteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Mr. Curley was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Woodson Lejeune, son-in-law Jimmy Castille, granddaughter Monica Lafleur, infant son Joseph Lejeune, parents Leofas and Eudonia Diaville Lejeune, eight brothers and one sister.
The family requests that visitation be held at Sibille Funeral home on Sunday, May 31, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; the Funeral Home will reopen on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Service. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
Mr. Curley's family would like to extend a big thanks to Dr. Kirk Elliot and staff, Opelousas General Health System, J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home, Hospice of Acadiana, Fth. Ken Dominque and the many family and friends that assisted us during dad's illness.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be may to Hospice of Acadiana.
