Port BarreFuneral services for Mr. Craig John Schexnayder, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Waxia Cemetery in Waxia, LA. Rev. Joe Russo will officiate the services.
Craig John Schexnayder, Sr., 62, died on July 10, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System after a brief illness. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends. He was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Palmetto, LA. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a crane operator for many years and was a member of the Local 406 Operating Engineers Local Union. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Lalania Schexnayder Guillory and her husband, Shane Guillory of Port Allen Lisa Bihm of Opelousas Craig Schexnayder, Jr. of Krotz Springs and Laurence Paul Schexnayder of Palmetto 2 grandchildren, Sam Guillory and Sophia Guillory his mother, Beatrice Schexnayder of Palmetto sisters, Dora Cooper of Slaughter and Shirley Schexnayder of Palmetto and brothers, Jimmy Schexnayder of California Paul Schexnayder of Port Barre and Lynn Schexnayder of Palmetto. He also has a host of many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Candy Bihm Schexnayder his father, Aurelian Schexnayder, Sr. and his brothers, Aurelian Schexnayder, Jr. and L.J. Schexnayder.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Sunday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, July 12, 2014, in the funeral home.
