Opelousas Funeral Services Collins J. Lanclos, Sr, age 84, will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the mass.
Collins was a resident of Port Barre he passed away at his home, on January 4, 2011.
Collins was a Crawfisherman and also a Farmer, and a avid deer hunter, shrimper and fisherman, he raised cattle. He was a member of the La. Cattleman Assocation he also loved to work with his bull dozer and tractors.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Bertha Bennett Lanclos of Port Barre, son Collins Lanclos, Jr. and his wife, Connie, daughters Jennie Savoie and Jill Lanclos all of Port Barre, grandchildren Brent and Troy Lanclos, Shelbie and Paige Savoie and great grandchildren Ethan, Colby , Zata , Tanner, and Kylie Lanclos.
Preceded in death by his parents Daily and Josephine Lacoste Lanclos, one daughter Janet Aline Lanclos two sons Mitchell Lee Lanclos and Bradley A. Lanclos, brother Joseph Jim Lanclos.
Pallbearers will be Collins Lanclos, Jr., Brent Lanclos, Troy Lanclos, Sidney Bennett, David Bryson, Granville Manuel, Bill Bryson, and Wade Courville.
The family has requested that the visitation be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 10:00 am 10:00 pm and will reopen on Friday Morning at 8:00 am until time of service at 11:00am.
A rosary service will be at 7 PM on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
