OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Clayton J. Latiolais, on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mr. Clayton, age 80, entered into eternal rest on, Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Cornerstone Nursing Home in Lafayette. He was born on February 19, 1942 in Opelousas. He served his community with the Opelousas City Marshall’s Office and the Opelousas Police Department where he retired as the Assistant Chief. He was a dedicated member of Woodmen of the World. Clayton was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Saints, LSU and UL; he also enjoyed being outdoors bike riding. He was a member of the “Top Gun” bowling team, during this time his team won the State Championship in the Police Bowling League. Most of all Clayton enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and attending his grandkids’ events. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who loved him.
He is survived by his son, Clayton “Clay” David Latiolais and wife, Lindsey Guidry Latiolais of Lafayette; daughters, Lynette Fontenot and husband, Keith of Lafayette, Kesia Fontenot and husband, Craig of Opelousas; brother, Roderick J. Latiolais; sisters, Elaine L. Guillory, Betty L. Stelly and Joan L. Roy; grandchildren, Hunter Fontenot, Hannah Fontenot, Dane Fontenot, Kennedy Latiolais and Laik Latiolais.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ludy Faye David Latiolais; parents, Elie J. Latiolais and Celeste Pitre Latiolais; sister, Pauline Latiolais.
Pallbearers will be Craig Fontenot, Keith Fontenot, Dane Fontenot, Hunter Fontenot, Craig Guillory, Bart Guillory, Dusty Stelly, Shane Stelly and Andy Latiolais.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins on Sunday evening. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. with Mass services to follow.
