Opelousas Funeral services for Clara Jean Perry Elder, age 75, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, with a Mass in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Paul Metrejean will celebrate the Mass.
Clara passed away surrounded by many members of her family, at 7:40 AM Thursday, March 8, 2012 in her home.
Clara always made homemaking as her business. She was an outstanding Creole French cook and made the cooking, creole style, her hobby, but running a close race was her flower gardening.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years James Donald Elder of Opelousas, and thier five children, Mark Donald, Charles Carey wife, Janna, Rachel Claire, Bedford Paul and Amie Frances husband Todd Hubber, five grandchildren, Kaye Elizabeth, Andrea Catherine, Elizabeth Holloman, August West and Benjamin Frances Elder, three sisters, Charlane Perry Gibson, Marvel Perry Fontenot, and Valda Perry Lynch along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perry.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday evening by Roy O. Elder.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. and will reopen on Sunday morning at 8 am until time of service at 2:00 pm.
