Cherri Mire

August 29, 1966 — April 22, 2011

A memorial service for Cherri Saltzman Mire will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Broussard, Louisiana. Rev. Wallace Millsaps and Rev. Weldon Moak will officiate the services. Musical selections will be provided by Mona Tribe and Alice Porter.
Cherri was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. Cherri was taken to Gods loving hands at the age of 44,on Friday, April 22, 2011, at her home surrounded by her beloved family and friends.
She was a remarkable example of faith, strength, and family love during these past few years after a courageous battle with cancer. It was evident to everyone that she loved to have family around her at all timesfor Cherri, there was no greater joy than visiting and eating together She loved her grandchild, Gracie and was known as JuJu. She was a caretaker of many throughout her life. She always had the company of children with her whether it was hers, the neighbors, family or the mothers day out classes. She was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, daughterinlaw, sisterinlaw, and stepgrandmother who will be greatly missed.
She was an avid football fan who really enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints. She thoroughly enjoyed playing Pokeno, traveling, beautiful flowersdaisies, crossword puzzles, watching tv, and keeping up with the family on the computer.
Survivors include her beloved husband of ten years, Leslie D.Big O Mire two daughters, Channon Duplechin and Cydney Duplechin mother, Lou Szkatulski and stepfather, Richard brother, Robert Dale Saltzman all of Lafayette stepson, Blaine C. Mire and wife, Jennifer of Ruston three stepdaughters, Heather Mire of Denham Springs Aimee Mire of Lafayette and Gabrielle Cross and husband, Scott of Hineston fatherinlaw, Marion D. Mire and motherinlaw, Beverly B. Mire of Kaplan stepgranddaughter, Charlette Lenore Gracie Cross of Hineston and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, inlaws, and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Saltzman grandparents, Talton Saltzman and Ruby Hanks Saltzman James Stokes and Annie Geraldine Pat Stokes and unclegodfather, Wayne Saltzman.
The family requests that visitation be observed on , Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from noon 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church , 210 S. Morgan, Broussard, LA 70518.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Cherri to the Breast Cancer Foundation, Susan G. Komen Foundation, or the Miles Perret Center.
The Mire Family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, LSUUniversity Medical Center Hospital, Home Health, and Hospice of Acadiana for their wonderful care and compassion during this difficult time.
