Charles Montgomery

Opelousas Charles W. Montgomery, a native of Washington, LA, and a resident of Opelousas, LA, beloved husband of Eleanor LaSalle Montgomery, passed away on September 14, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System, at the age of 83.

In 1986, he retired from Freeport McMoran in Port Sulphur, LA, after many years of service. He was a warm and kindhearted husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, his four children, Charles M. Montgomery, Margaret M. Craig, Lawrence C. Montgomery, and Eleanor M. Recio. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, James Craig, Jason Craig, Marcy C. O Leary, Jessica Recio, Alex Recio, Caroline Recio, William Montgomery, and two greatgrandchildren, Aidan Craig and Connor OLeary. He is also survived by one brother, John Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Montgomery and his sisters, Gertrude M. Fontenot and Zulma Lee Montgomery.

Charles has donated his body to the Department of Cell Biology Anatomy at LSU Medical Center.
