Opelousas Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Charles Ray Hudson, known to many as Pee Wee. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services.
Charles was a native of Toomey, a longtime resident of Port Barre, and currently was residing in Opelousas. He passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Senior Village Nursing Home at the age of 91. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who served his country as a Sgt. in the Medical Core during WWII. He worked as a Dragline Operator in the oilfield for over 40 years. As a pastime, he enjoyed being outdoors, riding his bike, hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful, loving, and caring father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Ray Hudson and wife, Arlene of Port Barre and Avery Toby Hudson and wife, Darlene of Leonville one daughter, Barbara Husdon Gaudet and husband, Jerome of Opelousas one brother, Wade Hudson of Port Barre one sister, Margaret Hudson McDaniel of Opelousas five grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmay Wheaton Hudson his parents, Avery Toby Hudson and Rena Sonnier Hudson his daughter, Claudia Ann Hudson and brother, Robert Hudson.
Pallbearers will be Tony Gaudet, Ty Hudson, Avery Hudson, Trent Barron, Kevin Barron, and Ray Lanclos.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, February 3, 2013, from 2 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Senior Village Nursing Home of Opelousas for their wonderful medical care given to Mr. Charles.
