Lawtell Funeral services for Mr. Charles Paul Breaux, age 80, will be held in St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father Ted Broussard, followed by interment in the St. Bridget Mausoleum.
Mr. Breaux was a native of the Roanoke, LA, area and was a longtime resident of Lawtell. He passed away at his residence surrounded by loved ones at 4:25 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011.
Mr. Breaux was a 42 year employee of M. E. Amy Drilling Co. He was a 3rd Degree member of the St. Bridget Knights of Columbus Council 5532, a volunteer fireman for the Lawtell Fire District and served as usher at Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Melba Joyce Pitre of Lawtell and his seven daughters, Diana Breaux Castille Terrel of Prairie Ronde Theresa Breaux Sonnier Gary and Christine Breaux Sellers Walton III all of Opelousas Elaine Breaux of Shreveport Catherine Breaux Price Terry of Seabrook, TX Carla Breaux Bouquet Steven of Brusly and Denise Breaux Ajaj Philip of Lanham, MD ten grandchildren, Bryan Sonnier, Rachel Trant, April Marchand, Dustin Robbins, Cheyenna Newman, Rebecca Price, Caitlin Sellers, Taylor Bouquet, Casey Bouquet and Shiloh Ajaj three greatgrandchildren, Ryder Trant, Luke Robbins, and Hannah Marchand. He is also survived by two brothers, James Leroy Breaux Rita and Loyd Breaux Fern and one sister, Lucille Breaux Manuel all of Opelousas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Breaux and Uranie Noel Breaux three brothers, Robert Breaux, Curley Breaux and Orci Breaux one sister, Bernice Breaux Thibodeaux three brothersinlaw, John Robert, Alex Thibodeaux, Lee Roy Manuel one sisterinlaw, Parell Jane Schexnyder four nephews, Larry Breaux, Michael Breaux, Rickey Breaux, and Ronald Robert one niece, Darlene Breaux and a greatniece, Stacy Robert.
Pallbearers will be Terrel Castille, Steven Bouquet, Terry Price, Bryan Sonnier, Dustin Robbins, and Stan Seraile. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Sonnier and Walton Sellers III.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, May 1, 2011, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Father Ted Broussard, Father Daniel Picard, Father Austin Leger, and Chaplain Patrick Braquet for their spiritual ministries. God sent the family other blessings from LA Oncology and staff, St. Landry Home Care, LA Hospice and Palliative Care, and Dr. Richard Tate and staff.
