Opelousas -A Funeral service will be held for Charles Michael Bacon on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Visitation will be on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited by the St. Mary's Alter Society at 1:30 p.m. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the service. Burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
Charles Michael Bacon, age 75, a resident of Port Barre, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served 12 months in Vietnam, where he was an infantry soldier, holding the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). His commitment to service exemplified his dedication and love for his nation.
Outside of his military endeavors, Mike found joy in various hobbies and interests that defined his character. He had a deep passion for fishing and hunting, often relishing the tranquility of nature and the thrill of outdoor adventure. Additionally, he enjoyed watching football, capturing moments through photography, and exploring the excitement of treasure hunting. His zest for life and adventure resonated with those who shared these pursuits with him.
He is survived by his sons, Jamie Bacon of Port Barre and Mark Ortego of Baton Rouge; his former wife and mother of his son, Tiny McGee Williams; brother, Tommy McClelland (Sue) of Port Barre; sisters, Cathy Bacon of Opelousas, Greta McClelland Fontenot (Darrell) of Opelousas, and Nancy McClelland Jarnagin (Tom) of Sunset.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Gina Boagni; parents, Edgar Bacon Jr. & Alice Soileau Bacon McClelland; grandparents; stepfather, Robert McClelland; and brother, Fred Bacon.
Pallbearers for the service will be Charles Delbeauno, Jason Huguet, Adam Carter, Dj Carter, Mark Ortego, and Benjamin Aucoin. Honorary pallbearers will be John Birmingham, Chaz Babin, Tom Jarnagin, and Ross Wilson.
Mike will be remembered for his warm spirit and the fun-filled memories he created with family and friends throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
