Charlene Leblanc

Charlene Marie LeBlanc , a lifelong resident of Port Barre died on October 27, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System, at the age of 86. Born to George and Edna Breaux on December 26, 1925, she was adopted by Walter and Bonnie Bazar when she was 4 years old.

She is preceded in death by Kirtley LeBlanc, Sr., beloved husband of 63 years her parents, and 4 brothers, Charles, Freddie, Sidney Breaux and Jimmy Breaux Robinson.

She was a graduate of Port Barre High School and the Practical Nursing Program at T. H. Harris in Opelousas. She was a talented seamstress and retired nurse having worked at Opelousas General for 18 years. She loved to work in her yard and grew beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed quilting and crochet. She was devoted to Jesus and her family.

Charlene is survived by her three children and their spouses, Sheila and Charles Emonet of West Baton Rouge Jennie and Dwight Boeneke of Baton Rouge and Kirt Jr. and Gretchen LeBlanc of Port Barre. She had seven grandchildren: Mark and wife, Adriane Emonet, Scott and wife, Jody Emonet, Brandi Boeneke, Joshua Boeneke, Emily and husband, David Hedden, Lance and wife, Ciarra LeBlanc, and James LeBlanc. She also had 10 great grandchildren: Marks children, Ellie, Isabella and Ethan Scotts children, McCall, Brooks and Davis Emilys children, Matthew, Alex and Colby and Lances child, Asher. She is also survived by two brothers, W. J. Bazar and Floyd Breaux Harrington.

Visitation will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, October 28, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre, LA. Rev. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
