Celine Marie Hutchins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 25, 2024, at Opelousas General Health System. She was a caring and loving individual who dedicated her life to her family. Marie was born on November 19, 1951.
Marie's personality was characterized by her immense love and care for her family. She cherished every moment spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth and nurturing spirit endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Throughout her life, Marie achieved numerous accomplishments and made a significant impact on various communities. She was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and held the role of Chaplain for the 7th district area. Additionally, she served as the president of American Legion Post 334 Women's Auxiliary and worked tirelessly as an election poll worker in Port Barre for St. Landry Parish for over 25 years. Marie's dedication to public service touched the lives of many. Marie also spent most of her Sundays teaching Children's Church at Christian Life Center for the last 30 years.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Adelaide Orgeron and by her step-parents, John L. and Lorena "Blue" Savoie, as well as several brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 52 years, Edward "Ed" Hutchins of Port Barre; their son Edward "Flappy" Hutchins Jr. (Desi) of Opelousas; their daughter Bridget Nall (Chad) of Krotz Springs; Marie's brother Delton "T-Boy" Orgeron of Lawtell; sisters Patricia Ezell of Bude, Mississippi, Mary Ann Matt of Port Barre; along with grandchildren Colt Nall (Chloe), Harlie Nall (Courtland), Riley Reed, Avery Hutchins and Emmy Hutchins; and great-grandchildren Joey (JoJo) Nall, Chase Nall, and Kai Andrus.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation services for Celine Marie Hutchins on January 26, 2024, at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The visitation will begin at 3:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM. A prayer service will take place at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM on the same day.
A funeral service will be held on January 27, 2024, also at Sibille Funeral Home. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning the service will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM. Following the funeral service, a burial ceremony will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The burial is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Celine Marie Hutchins will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her selfless acts of kindness. Her legacy as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will continue to inspire all those who had the honor of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Pallbearers will be Edward "Flappy" Hutchins, Chad Nall, Colt Nall, Riley Reed, John Matt, and Courtland Andrus.
