OpelousasThe family deeply regrets to announce the death of Mrs. Cecile Guidry Ryder. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.
Cecile was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Senior Village Nursing Home of Opelousas at the age of 92.
She was a gentle and kind woman who was also a homemaker. As a pastime, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include one son, Charles Ryder and wife, Christine of Opelousas one daughter, Kathryn Herter and husband, Tom Herter, Jr. of Scott two grandsons, Blair Herter and wife, Jessica of Valley Village, CA and a greatgrandchild due in March and Tommy Herter and wife, Lizzie of Lafayette and a special sisterinlaw, Audrey Schwartzenburg and husband, Glyn of Opelousas also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claiborne Ryder her parents, Ida Devillier Guidry and Sidney Guidry, Sr. of Opelousas and her stepfather, Morris Wyble of Opelousas her brother, Sidney Guidry, Jr. and wife, Hazel of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be Charles Ryder, Christine Ryder, Blair Herter, Tommy Herter, Kathryn Herter, and Tom Herter.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, September 20, 2012, from 3 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Senior Village Nursing Home and the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care of Opelousas.
