Grand Coteau Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Hoag, former Carolyn Marie Guilbeau, age 64, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Charles Catholic Church. Private burial will take place at a later time.
Mrs. Hoag was born in Sunset and was currently residing in Lafayette. She died on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at her residence. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed doing needlepoint and cross stitching. She also enjoyed playing Bouree and Pokeno, cooking for family and friends. She was writing a cookbook for her family but passed away before being able to complete it. She looked forward to spending time at the monthly Sibille family luncheons which was held at different restaurants in the area each month.
Survivors include two sons: Michael Paul Hoag of Lafayette; and Scott Henry Hoag of Kyle, TX; step children: Elmer Hoag III, Chris Hoag, Phillip Hoag, and Pamela Mixon, all of New Iberia; one brother, Carl J. Guilbeau and wife, Linda of Longview, TX; one sister, Marie Anne Bandy and husband, Fred of Jefferson, TX; one grandchild, William Tristen Hoag; and eight step grandchildren. She is also survived by three nieces, three nephews, and her godchild, Patrick Bandy.
Preceded in death by husband, Elmer Lamont Hoag, Jr.; and her parents: Benjamin H. and Evangeline Sibille Guilbeau.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Sunday, March 8, 2009, beginning at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. On Monday, the family will meet at the church at 10:00 a.m.
