Opelousas- A memorial service will be held for Carolyn May Bruce at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday, September 21, 2019 on 1:00 p.m.

Carolyn, age 80, a resident of Opelousas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, bead work, cross word puzzles, playing cards reading, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, James Bruce and his wife, Connie of LaBelle, Mo., Jeffery Bruce, of Opelousas, and Charlotte McBride of Opelousas, brother, Jay Gates, sisters, Edith McCellan, and Verna Emia, eleven grandchildren, twenty- five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bruce, her mother, Marry Charlotte Carlson, father, Charles Gates, brother, Arlen Gates, sisters, Mildred Leloane, and Lynn Gates.

The family request donations be made to Sibille Funeral Home to defer the cost of funeral expenses.
