Opelousas- A visitation celebrating the life of, Carlos Granger, will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will conclude with the rendering of military honors at 3:00 p.m.
Carlos, a native of Louisiana, longtime resident of Massachusetts and current resident of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Carlos served his country proudly for twenty years in the United States Navy. For his heroism, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. Following his retirement from the Navy he pursued a career as a corrections officer. Carlos enjoyed expressing himself through not only his own display of tattoos; but drawing and tattooing his own creations. His favorite getaway was enjoying the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle. Carlos also loved playing the guitar; but what he truly cherished was playing with his grandson, Cameron. Carlos will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be so deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Goven Granger; daughters, Victoria Lynn Granger of Scott, and Christiana Lynn Granger of Worcester, MA; siblings, Lloyd Granger, Jr., Pamela Granger, Janell Triche and husband, Ted all of Houston, TX, Rodney Granger of New Orleans and Cally Granger Sensat of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Cameron Kenney and Teagan Foley; sisters and brother in-law, Sandy Johnson and husband, Kenny, Donna Goven, and Kevin Goven all of Worcester, MA; nieces and nephews, Amanda Salmon, Stefanie Silva, Justin and Amber Goven, Blake and Derek Triche, and Lennox and Ellis Salmon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Alice Hunter Granger; mother and father-in-law, Douglas and Dorothy Goven; brother, Kenneth Wade Granger; and brother-in-law, James Sensat.
