Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Byron L. Miller, age 71, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Father William Miller will be the celebrant for the Mass. Ron Moreau and Phyllis Simar will provide the music selections.
Byron was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He died on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System.
He was a longtime employee of Ortego Oil Company with over 25 years as an oilfield salesman. He was a past member of the LA National Guard. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors and going fishing. He would spend lots of time watching football with the family and friends. He also liked to watch the horse races. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a very caring person who loved people, a good laugh, good food, and above all his family and friends. However, it was obvious to everyone that the love of his life was his wife of 49 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lola Latiolais Miller of Opelousas one son, Todd Miller and wife, Paula of Bayou Chicot two daughters, Tricia Carriere and husband, Lonnie of Opelousas and Taryn Segura and husband, Barrett of Erath one sister, Ann Hiller and husband, Charles Scooter Hiller of Opelousas four grandchildren: Miles Carriere, Madelyn Carriere, and Matheu Carriere, all of Opelousas and Annie Kaye Segura of Erath three stepgrandchildren: Jared Bordelon, Jacob Bordelon and wife, Sonya and Kyle Bordelon and wife, Constance all of Bayou Chicot and one greatgrandchild, Lillian Bordelon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Miller and Beatrice Franchebois Miller and one niece, Krishna Hiller Crawford.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, December 26, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until time of services
A Rosary will be recited by Father Austin Leger and held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Iggie Castille will do the Eulogy following the Rosary service.
