Burt, a devoted father, a proud veteran, and an accomplished businessman, passed away peacefully at his home on January 24, 2025. He led a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family.

Burt was born June 6, 1946 in Opelousas, LA to O.B. Stander, Sr. and Margaret Perry Stander. Early on in Burt’s life he achieved the status of Eagle Scout, a testament to his commitment to leadership and work ethic. These qualities then aided Burt in becoming a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces. Burt received a B.S. in Business Administration from U.S.L. (now U.L.L.) and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was also an active member of the Elks Club. Burt was an outdoorsman who loved to boat, fish, and hunt. He was also an excellent chef that enjoyed cooking his catch. The ultimate entertainer and host, Burt loved spending time sharing these passions with his family and friends. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan, often attending Tiger games on Saturday and Saints games on Sunday. It’s no surprise that he was in attendance when the Saints won the Super Bowl.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Meghan Elizabeth Stander, and fiancé, Gill Page of New Orleans; his brothers, O.B. Stander, Jr. and wife Linda of Tampa, FL, and Jay Stander of Lafayette; and sister, Susan Voitier and husband Billy of Opelousas. He takes place in eternity alongside his parents, O.B. Stander, Sr. and Margaret Stander, as well as his loving grandparents, Julius and Bertha Stander, and Naomie and Joseph Perry.
